How to fix SQ 30LB washer would not stop after final extract (Spin)?

I have a 15-year SQ Washer that would not stop after the final extract Spin. (Model SC27MD2YU40001). Attached is a video showing the machine.

My service technician replaced the following parts but still didn't resolve the issue:

    1. Solenoid
    2. Capacitor
    3. Door Switch
    4. Door Lock Microswitch

Wonder if anyone has come across this issue and know a way to fix this.

Thank you and look forward to hear from you!

Burnt resistor on your door lock control board.  Its that board with the blue capacitor attached to it.

Hi Chris - thanks for your help. I look through the parts manual and didn't see the exact names.

Do you think "door lock control board" and "door lock relay CCA" mean the same thing?

Also, do you think "resistor" and "Fuse" mean the same thing in this case?

    Thanks again!

It's Item #28.F370430-1P Door Lock CCA.  There is a resistor that is soldered to the board that fails and prevents the machine from stopping.  Undo the clamp and harnesses, swap it with another machine.  Inspect the back of the board and you should see a burnt resistor.  Send it to Mountain Electronics for repair.

Chris, thanks for the info. I swapped that board with a working machine (same model) that I have and that didn't resolve the issue. Any other thoughts?

I have the same model. I've had instances where the machine will get to the end of cycle after the final spin and then re-start on it's own. It's usually an intermittent problem when it's happened so it's difficult to diagnose but I've resolved it in the past by replacing the timer.

Check your door lock assembly carefully or swap it out.
Something might be burnt out or binding keeping the switch in the closed position which keeps the tub tumbling.
Sounds like the door lock itself is not unlocking and you already swapped the board on the capacitor.

Timer would be my last option as they are expensive and a pia the swap.

Wil, I don't have the part number off hand. I've never purchased one. I send the old one to Reeco Timer to be rebuilt. I keep one rebuilt timer as a spare. It's a hassle to swap a timer given all of the connections and it's easy to mix up the wiring so I'd try some of the other suggestions first.

Turn off the power,  disconnect the coin mech, turn power back on and rapid advance the machine right before it's supposed to stop.  I hate swapping timers.

Does your washer have one or two solenoids in the door lock mech?  If it has 2, failure of the door release solenoid will keep the machine running.  Binding at the time of door release could cause the same problem.  Sometimes door release solenoids can  partially short due to moisture from soap box overflow, causing the solenoid not to work.

The most likely problem areas are the door lock control board and the door release solenoid.

John, your machine that will fast advance only is a door lock issue, wiring or bad connection. A lot of the times it is a connection issue after you have changed all that you did, most not having anything to do with the issue. I have seen the spade connector the wires are either broken, frayed or connector is coated with soap residue making a bad connection.

I think it has one but not sure because I am new to this. The picture below shows the parts for the door switch assembly. Do you see more than one?

Since you swapped the most likely cause, the door lock relay (#28), like Chris said, and you still haven't fixed it, the next most likely cause imo is the vertical door lock solenoid #11 , as Winston mentioned. They will eventually get gummed up and then cannot effectively pull the plunger up.

I used to replace them which is a little bit of a pain, but now I simply spray BOTH solenoids and the entire locking assembly with this:

    https://www.amazon.com/Tri-Flow-Superior-Lubricant-4oz-Aerosol/dp/B002EX5B6O/ref=sr_1_3?ie=UTF8&qid=1515945230&sr=8-3&keywords=triflow+lubricant

This is an AMAZING lubricant that was designed originally for racing bicycle chains to lube without attracting dirt or dust.

It sprays on, but unlike oil based products such as WD-40 which will gum up after a while, THIS stuff, when it dries, leaves a dry Teflon coating which lasts a long time, and does not attract lint.

I have not had to change ANY solenoids for years because of this, and it has dramatically cut down on door lock issues, not to mention effectively lubricating any kind of lock such as padlocks, changer locks, or coin box locks.

No laundromat should be without this stuff.

The repair guy cleaned (with Tri-Flow) door lock relay (#28) and door lock solenoid #11 and that didn't fix the issue. He swapped out these two components and still no luck.   Unfortunately, the next part to swap out is the timer. Hopefully that would work.

    Any other suggestions?

    Will, yes.

With the power off, front panel off, and the door lock cover off, close the door. Then manually trip the top solenoid, and manually push the slide back (the pushbutton lock). The point is, you want to make sure the slide is not binding in any way. Sometimes the door itself when closed, can bind up the locking slide, if the doorhandle's pushbutton is pressing too hard on the slide, preventing it from moving.

I have a similar problem on a 12-yr old SQ 40-lb machine. A technician investigated it and indicated that I have a bad timer. I am going to replace the timer today. I had read that changing the timer is a pain. Is the pain in getting the module out? Or is the pain to getting the wiring reconnected correctly?

I tried to remove the timer but could not figure out the best way. I could remove each individual wire, but dont think I'd be able to put them back correctly - dont see anything that would tell which wire goes where.
So I tried to disconnect the wire bundles at the connectors but was unable to remove the connectors at the back  - the ones inserted in the cutouts to the left of the pressure switch in the figure below. My model# is SC40MD2. Any suggestions on what is the best way to remove and replace the timer module?

It is not too difficult to replace a timer, but it is a time consuming PITA.  There are 3 3/8 (I think) nuts that hold the timer in place - 2 on top, 1 on the bottom.  After removing the timer by tilting it up you gently remove the clear plastic cover over the needle, the needle and the neoprene hose and black plastic piece under the hose.  There are 3 phillips head screws holding the silver piece on the front.  Remove wires one-by-one noting the markings on the wires that match the connector on the timer and which side it is on - 1B goes to 1B and so on.  The first time can take a hour or so and if you've done a few of them it will take about a 1/2 hour.

    No special talent necessary.

Thanks James. I did replace the timer, and that did fix the problem of the washer not stopping at the end of the cycle.
But getting the spade connectors out was a major pain. I used a short plier. Is that the best tool or does the bent-head plier or something else make the job easier?

Congratulations.  I use either a medium size needle nose pliers or a wire stripper combo tool.  They are on tight but if you pull them straight out it is easier.  The wires should all have codes on them to match the timer.  It is easier to keep track if you do one wire at a time and one side at a time.  Look in your home center or local hardware store and you can find books of wire tags that will last forever.  They come in number and / or letter forms and one book should last a lifetime.

Bummer !! Bliss was short-lived. The machine ran fine for a day and a half, but now it runs through the cycle very quickly, and does not stop at the end either. Is it a sign of a loose connection, or did the timer go bad, or something else?

I lost track of what you have done to date.  Did you replace the advance switch?  Or the door lock board?  I seem to recall that an advance switch got wet and then it continuously ran through cycles without stopping until the power was shut off.

That's what it was - the Advance switch. It was stuck in a position that caused the cycle to speed advance. Havent replaced the switch as yet, but will look to swapping it out. Thanks.
