Chris, that was pretty funny. I kept looking to see if that video was on a loop.

The footage looks great, can you tell me what type of camera system you have. I need to upgrade and there's lot of specs to consider. Too many specs actually...

It's only a Lorex 720P system.  4k is all the rage now.

They way he was putting those scoops in, looking around and with kind of a smirk on his face, I'd say he was doing that intentionally.  I counted at least 20 scoops, then he proceeds to pour in the rest of what's left.

    Chris

That was way funny. You should send that to Sun detergent. Maybe they will send you a coupon so the guy can buy another box! Great advertising for them.
Do you have that video playing on a loop in your mat for your customers to watch? Maybe the guy will resurface. Just look for the guy who's clothes are so stiff. He will not need to starch his clothes.

    Lihn;

As I was laughing at your pictures. I remember the original movie Willie Wonka and how all those bubbles went all over in the car. wow what a mess you had.
I also had to laugh at your scenario.

I'm pretty sure he was smoking something.  Could smell it when I walked in.  He also spent $3 to dry.  Surprisingly, when I rinsed the machine, there wasn't much soap left in it.

    Chris,

That was hilarious. Thanks for the laugh. I kept wondering why he didn't just turn the box over and then he finally did just that! Did he ask you for a refund or to rewash the clothes?

My customers rarely admit to using too much soap even when it is pretty obvious that they had to have done so. We will usually rewash or at least meet them 1/2 way when they open the door at the end of the cycle and suds pour out of the washer. Most are thankful for the gentle lesson (we point out the sign posted on each washer) and we are confident that they won't repeat the mistake.

I was hoping that he would ask.  I didn't want soap all in the dryer, but he didn't.

If he wears those clothes out in the  rain, he will start bubbling.

So, how do you explain to customers how much soup to use? When we try to tell them we get responses such as... Don't tell me how to wash my clothes..

This had me rolling, guy reminds me of Dave Chapelle.  I'm sorry this happened in your store, I thought maybe it was just a youtube clip you found on line.

This guy definitely went overboard but I had experienced a similar situation in my store. In general, what's the recommended amount (cups) of detergent a customer should use on the following machine?

    20LB:
    30LB:
    40LB:
    50LB:
    60LB:
    80LB:

    Hi Will,

You should probably check with the manufacturer. In my experience, the recommended amounts range from 1/4 to 1/2 cup officially. The actual amounts will vary based on the detergent, the amount of laundry in the washer and what is in the laundry. We always recommend that they start slowly since detergent can always be added but not removed. Some customers will NOT be happy unless they see a lot of soap- even when you explain that H.E. detergents don't suds as much. In any event, we post stickers on each machine and are able to refer to it when customers use too much soap. As I mentioned previously, we still generally refund (at least partially) but the goal is always to respectfully educate our customers since people that are familiar with our equipment make the best customers.

First time I washed at a laundromat, the machine said 6 loads, so I put in 6 cups.  I understand the confusion.  Detergent labels don't specify commercial machine loads.
