This one has me scratching my head. 80 pound 20 year old (great machine) washer.
Has pre-wash, wash, and three rinses. All water levels are correct...except for the second rinse. It fills to 7/8 up the glass. Changed pressure switch and same thing. Tube is clear. Any guesses?

Change the diaphragm in the cold water valve.  It may be sticking.

    Curt,

It sounds like the water is not shutting off for that rinse. It's filling to the overflow and can't fill higher due to overflowing. So I would look for a bad inlet valve.

These machines have a hi and low level on level switch, I suggest the hi needs adjustment.

    Curt,

Since you specifically said it is only happening on the 2nd rinse ... I would say it is a specific contact within the main control that is not functioning properly.  Like Larry possibly suggested ... the reason why it is not even more than 7/8 up the glass is because the overflow prevents a flood of the upper part of machine???

The air tube may be clear, but is it snug fitting enough on the ends to prevent air loss?

If the air is slipping out, the washer will overfill.

    Michael,

    You deserve a DEWEY Button!
    It was the control board.
