I have a speed queen front loader that is not going into the spin cycle when the final spin cycle light comes on. Could the timer cause this issue?

Well let see  could be many of things    First  what model is it .
single phase , three phase .   electronic or mechanical timer
dose the water drain out , dose it have a current over load relay .  blocked drain.
may have a bad relay,  broken wire , overload in the motor windings maybe open.
Yes sir I could go on for a week. Make sure you have a VOM Meter to do voltage tests and ohm readings.
We all need better info in order to repair the machine

Ditto the above.  Also, always check everything else before faulting and replacing the timer. What often seems to be the cause of a problem is not actually the cause.  Timer replacement is costly and tedious (mechanical timer).

I will check those things. I thought it was the timer because when the light came on for final spin it would continue to wash the clothes for a few more spins then start the spin cycle for a few spins then the machine would finish and the clothes would still be wet. However I will check everything mentioned above.
