Hmmm... I don't do WDF ... but  would there be gains on the improved version of the Foldimate for those laundromat owners who do? 10-15 seconds for each shirt or pants?  Could that be slower than the fastest hands on WDF workers?  Maybe this device would open the door for the more physically handicapped for useful employment?  Could a conveyor automate this even further?  A step backwards in productivity?

I have been involved with the flodimate discussion on another forum... as it was explained to me... this machine is not currently being constructed for commercial use. That puts it completely out of the running for my use...if the life cycle is a home use... a couple of months of use in a laundromat wash N fold setting and the thing will get worn out... also, I cant see any way I would leave this out for customers to use... in its current form... too many ways for a customer to put their hands in the moving parts and get injured...

...so I cant use for employees behind the scenes or in the front of the house for customer use at the Laundromat... not useful to me... I would love to see a commercial version constructed... but currently ... $1000 gadget for my home laundry room --- yawn...

Even if this thing is just for home use, at only $1,000.00 it could still be a good "draw" for customers.
An automatic folding machine makes your mat VERY unique. Just try to keep it operating as long as possible.

Old & young alike will be more fascinated with it than anything else. They will tell ALL their friends about what YOUR laundromat just installed, and THEIR friends will want to come and see it.

It's great advertising and if you get one, promote the heck out of it.

You don't even have to let them use it! in fact, it may be a mistake for the public to use a machine like this. BUT they can watch your attendants use it! Operate it in a place of maximum visibility.

    Mike,

I've been following the foldimate for several years now. I plan to order one for each of my drop-off stores if they ever come out... I agree they're not robust enough for high volume but I think they'll hold up ok with our drop-off usage. Of course, I'll start with one to be sure.... They claim it folds an item every 5 seconds and an average load is 3-5 minutes. Speed isn't all that important to us with dropoff laundry, we're more concerned with quality. As far as I can tell, the consistency of quality is there. I don't plan to use it for our delivery business production though. Speed is much more important for our pickup and delivery business.

These guys do plan to eventually offer a commercial unit as well but are focused on the home version for now. Definitely an interesting improvement for segments of our industry I think.

    Dave,

Let us know how it works out for you.
I bet you'll get a pop in sales a few weeks down the road after you install it.

So part of it's value is not just "labor-saving", but terrific word of mouth advertising for your mat.

    Best of luck with it.
