1.  Smart Water Meter not so smart

Last billing cycle the town made me put in one of them "smart" radio frequency things they can drive by and read.

It's not so smart after all.

Just opened my bill... $ 50,823.49

I think it added a extra 0 somewhere

Well if your situation is anything like one was locally here, THEY DON'T MAKE MISTAKES.  And it's up to you to PROVE you didn't actually use that much.  Local businesses had to threaten the "water authority" with a class action suit to get them to even ADMIT ANY WRONGDOING!!!
Typical government entity.....inefficient, overpriced, and not at all helpful or customer friendly.

If the govt. got into running mats, it'd cost $15.00 a load for wash, and a quarter a minute for a "green" dryer that wouldn't dry worth a crap, that some greenie-weenie startup company that is subsidized by the govt.(remember SOLYNDRA) sold them on.

Sometimes when they put in a new meter, they don't program the "multiplier" correctly into the system. Sounds like your meter's multiplier, or the people who are interpreting your meter's readings are off by 10x, or should I say, multiplying 10x more. I've seen it before.

I got a water bill September 2015 for $217,967.09. No one would ever admit anything was wrong. Just gave me another bill.
