1.  Average AdWrods CTR

Posted 7 days ago
I have been looking for an average AdWords CTR (click-through rate) our industry... what is yours?

If there is enough interest, I can setup an anonymous survey to gather and share this info with the forum.  We could break it down my campaign type/category etc. if need be.

Reasons for why I ask... I have a feeling that mine is too high.  Also, I got calls from places way out of my advertising radius.  A few months ago, another owner (of Cleaners) pointed out to me that he saw my ad in a city where he lives, that's again outside of my radius.  Obviously no one would drive 20-30 miles to a laundromat, but it could cost us some serious money.

I can share some of our stats for last month:

Metrics

Clicks: 1,622 (Search 62 – Display 1,560)

Impressions: 644,957 (Search 679 – Display 644,278)

CTR: 0.25% (Search 9.13% – Display 0.24%)

Avg. CPC: $0.67 (Search $2.60 – Display $0.59)

We focus our advertising on our wash and fold drop off and pickup/delivery service.  We spent about $1,080.00 last month on Google Adwords/campaigns and it resulted in 108 brand new wash and fold customers for the month of March.

I can't speak specifically on how each of the people found us, but the vast majority is either an organic search for wash and fold services or a combination of display ads and keyword ads.  I do not advertise anywhere else other than Google so I'm confident in saying that most new customers find us on the Internet in some manner.

I can go into more specifics, but a combination of having a well designed website (SEO not pictures) and digital marketing has proven to be key in growing our business.

Your CTR varies based on what key words you use for each campaign...a good range is 8% to 24%...again depends on what key words..regarding price some are more competitive then others, the more comp the higher the price... If your going to go at it alone; I strongly suggest running A/B testing to see what key words and campaigns perform best...from there you can drill down and make better decisions on which key words you want to spend more on...Ad words has helped me generate tens of thousand of customers and is the best "bang for your buck" hands down! Display network is purely a CPM play and would not recommend it when just starting out...Yes it's cheap but very ineffective...You need to geo-target so you don't have so much waste on where your ads show up...If you want to speak of line please feel free to hit me up...Thanks, Rick
