1.  Token operated door locks

Posted 12 days ago
Does anyone have experience with a good bathroom lock that is coin operated? I don't want Nic-o-lock because I think renting a lock for $20 per month is crazy. I am on my 4th monarch lock in two weeks and they just don't work. I thought it was me but I had 2 lock experts try and get them to work correctly and they just don't work. So I am looking for something that works that I can buy and not rent. I found some European made locks but was hoping some one in the U.S. Made something that actually works.

I also want want it to be token operated as I don't actually want to charge people to use the restroom. My goal is only to stop people from sneaking in to shower or shave in the sink.

I don't know why you think I am unattended. How would the customers get tokens for the doors if I was not attended.

Anyway I just bit the bullet and ordered a European door lock.

I just realized why you thought I was unattended. I actually own multiple laundries and am currently building 3 new ones.

You are correct that the Golden Horse is unattended. It's my only unattended laundry and not the one I am talking about.

I've been very happy with my Monarch.  Going on year three -- and it gets heavy use, including the angry non-customers who wrench the door handle when they find out it costs 25 cents.

The installation is very difficult and the written instructions they give you are terrible.  However, if you call them they are very helpful.

My biggest issue is when kids put cardboard in the slot I have to take it apart to fix it, which is very complicated.  I have to video tape myself taking it apart so I can put it back together correctly.

But otherwise it has been rock solid.
