  • Full page bleed: 8.625" X 11.125"
    (Trim size 8.375 x 10.875; Live area 7.875" x 10.375")
  • Full page within margins: 7.25" X 10.125"
  • 1/2 page vertical: 3.50" X 10.0"
  • 1/2 page horizontal: 7.25" X 4.875"
  • 1/2 page island: 4.75" X 7.375"
  • 1/3 page square: 4.75" X 4.875"

Submitting Electronic Files for Print Ads

All ads are to be submitted in an electronic format. Note the following specifications when preparing your ad:

  • We support Quark, InDesign, Illustrator and Photoshop on both the Mac and IBM platforms, however the Macintosh using Quark is our preferred work flow. If a PDF file is supplied it must be produced with Acrobat Distiller (call for settings).
  • Ads must be created to the size specifications listed. On full page bleeds, make sure that all text is at least 1.4" away from trim (trim size is 8.375 x 10.875). Any work necessary to prepare the ad for placement may be billed to the advertiser at prevailing rates. These charges are in addition to space rates specified in this brochure.
  • All screen and printer fonts and supporting files must be included with electronic files. Images for black and white ads need to be scanned at 300 dpi and be in grayscale mode. Any 4/color image must be scanned at 300 dpi and be in CMYK mode. Line art should be scanned at 1200 dpi and be in bitmapped mode. Save images as TIFFs if at all possible. Single file EPS should be used if there is a clipping path. Fonts in Illustrator should be converted to outlines.
  • Change all spot colors to CMYK.
  • To retain original placement of elements, group all items together as a whole.
  • Electronic files should be sent on 100 mb Zip disks or CD-ROM, along with a color hard copy proof. If we do not receive a SWOP-certified color proof with the digital data, we cannot guarantee the accuracy of the ad color.
