CLA Promotes Drop-Off Laundry with MySpace Contest
The Coin Laundry Association (CLA) is promoting drop-off laundry service as the next household chore to become outsourced. To get the word out to non-traditional laundry customers, CLA conducted a national MySpace contest.
Why MySpace?
A majority of MySpace account holders are between the ages of 18-35, and the male to female population is evenly split. By capturing the attention of this age group, CLA is looking to educate potential long-term customers about the benefits of using a drop-off laundry service.
Contest
From YouTube to social networking sites, today’s Gen Xers are using technology to express themselves. Entrants for this contest are asked to film a funny laundry-related video. CLA will select the top five videos and let MySpace users vote on their top choice. The three that retain the most votes will win the contest.

The grand prize is $2,000 worth of drop-off laundry credit and $1,000 in cash. First place is $400 in drop-off laundry and $100 cash. The second place winner will receive $100 and $50 in cash.
CLA Connection
Page visitors and entrants are encouraged to look for an area laundry via the Laundry Locator on www.coinlaundry.org. If you are a member of the association and your store is not included in the locator, e-mail the store’s address and phone number to katherine@coinlaundry.org.
